Fun With Flesh-eating Bacteria

We enjoyed the flip, funny, and only slightly misinformative post about hyperbaric oxygen for necrotizing fasciitis on io9 yesterday. You'll find "How to use a hyperbaric chamber to treat flesh eating bacteria" in the site's Mad Science department. Safety is paramount, but "a spark could blow them up at any moment" is laying it on a bit thick. Still, hyperbaric medicine could use more pop journalism like this. And goodness knows the world needs HBOT and other nonpharmaceutical backup plans against antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

O2.0 is the news blog of HyperbaricLink, the independent web guide to hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
