Weekly Web Roundup: 5 September 2010

Greetings from the relaxing end of another predictably slow hyperbaric news week, as summer draws to a close and a nation rests up for more hard work. Here at HyperbaricLink we've taken this opportunity to tinker with a few features and functions. Please take another look around and let us hear your thoughts and ideas for the season ahead.

SCIENCE

Urologists in Athens, Greece, publishing in the July-August issue of Undersea Hyperbaric Medicine, note the spontaneous disappearance of a hydrocele (swollen scrotum) in the case of a patient treated with hyperbaric oxygen for decompression sickness. Bonus.

PRESS/BUSINESS

Florida Hospital Waterman, Tavares FL, was selected as a Center of Excellence, the only center in Florida to earn the recognition by Shared Health Services, Johnson City TN.

PATIENT STORIES

With time to kill in the hyperbaric chamber, for recovery from a concussion, Los Angeles Kings defenseman Willie Mitchell has found healing, clarity, and motivation for his return to hockey.

NEW HBOT CENTERS

Thank you, Green Bay Press-Gazette, for acquainting us with the new Wound Healing Center at Bellin Hospital, Green Bay WI, plus two "off-label" HBOT clinics: Green Bay Hyperbarics in Ashwaubenon and the Wisconsin Integrative Hyperbaric Center in Fitchburg.

Weatherford Regional Medical Center, Weatherford TX, unveils its new Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center.

We learn of the Wound Care Center at Good Samaritan Health System, Lebanon PA, by way of a newspaper story about a Marine recovering from a roadside bombing in Iraq.

HyperbaricLink adds Bucyrus Community Hospital, Bucyrus OH, to its list with the announcement of the hospital's welcome participation in the ACHM radionecrosis registry.

Walnridge Equine, Cream Ridge NJ, now offers veterinary HBOT, you know, like, for horses.

O2.O is the news blog of HyperbaricLink, the independent web guide to hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
